This fortnightly challenge theme was set by the very talented Hazel. The possibilities are endless for this particular topic, and a scrapbook page would be particlarly nice. But I’m afraid I had to rush this card as, ironically I had just returned from 3 idilic weeks in Spain, and just didn’t have the time. Also yesterday I picked up my 7 week old mini long haired dachshund puppy, Rose.
It has been total chaos in our house today, and I’m actually sat writing this blog with the said Rose draped over one arm, so please forgive any spelling mistakes!
Getting back to the card, I used a new stamp set from Personal Impressions called Beach Huts and Ice Cream. I stamped the huts to one side of a piece of white card then used Promarkers to create the sky, sand and sea. A blender pen was used for the clouds and waves, and an Inkessential white pen just under the crest of the wave to highlight it. I coloured the huts, sand dune/foliage and the sand castle with Promarkers. An easel card was made from white card and the inside lined with some Anna Griffin stripe paper I’d had for ages, I stamped the deckchair on the same paper to match and just coloured the wooden frame brown. Birds were stamped in black, and the finished scene was cut vertically into 3 equal parts and mounted onto a piece of blue card. To finish the card I found some bright orange decorative paper mounted that onto green card and tied some netting round this before putting the scene and deckchair into place. For something a little different for the easel stopper, 3 beach balls were stamped, coloured and mounted with 3d foam. As I’m a typical Virgo, ever the perfectionist, I don’t feel this is one of my best cards as time was not on my side, but it’s not the worst either, so I’ll just have to live with it.
I wish all beaches were like this one, it looks so tranquil with no people on it!
